This series of 60-minute concerts and lecture-demonstration sessions serves firstly to provide a less-formal introduction to different instruments and ensemble configurations, as well as an understanding of the music performed.

Starting off the aftereight Series for the year, YMS was proud to feature the InClarion Clarinet Choir. The group comprises of enthusiastic clarinet players in Singapore. The clarinet choir uses the entire range of the clarinet family, ranging from the petite “E-flat Clarinet” down to the gigantic “Contrabass Clarinet”. The clarinets bring the audience transcriptions of familiar classical music, evergreen tunes, swing as well as original clarinet choir works.

Once again, YMS will be collaborating with leading bassoonist Lim Tee Heong in an aftereight Series Concert to be held at the Esplanade Recital Studio.

Once again, YMS collaborated with leading bassoonist Lim Tee Heong in an aftereight Series Concert held at the Esplanade Recital Studio.

Following a successful performance at the YMS Auditorium in 2001, Tee Heong sought YMS' assistance to present a bassoon recital featuring works by Australian composers, George Dreyfus, Larry Sitsky, Stuart Greenbaum, Peter Webb and James Ledger. Having graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2003, Tee Heong was keen to showcase the modern music of Australia.
In line with the aftereight Series aimed at educating concert-goers, the one-hour lecture performance featured James Ledger's Liberty . Equality.Karaoke: for Bassoon and CD. This work, interestingly, can literally be considered a "karaoke" piece for the bassoon. A work that merges with technology, the bassoon will be played over a recording of manipulated sounds prerecorded by Australian bassoonist Wendy Cooper. The piece was commissioned by Cooper and first performed at the 2001 International Double Reed Society Conference. It was the Singapore premiere of the unique composition.
